Treehouse Book Club is a monthly book club membership designed for families with children ages 6-12. Dive deep into living literature in your homeschool connecting themes to science, nature, geography, history, and language arts. Then, join with online or in-person community to celebrate finishing the book together.
April Book Club Pick
The April Book Club pick is The Black Stallion by Walter Farley. It tells the story of a unique and enduring bond between a boy and a horse. Alec and The Black Stallion (referred to as The Black throughout the book) find themselves in grave danger early on, yet their perseverance leads them to a deep friendship that helps them overcome the odds.
The Black's mysterious past brings uncertainty to their journey, but one thing is certain: the bond between Alec and the horse is unlike any other. Together, they form an unlikely team that ventures into the thrilling world of horse racing, where Alec finds himself once again facing unexpected challenges.

What's included in the Book Club Membership?
Monthly Book Guides
Each month, you'll receive a detailed digital Book Club Guide which includes four Weekly Lesson Grids. The Weekly Lesson Grid is intended to be used as a menu for how to study the assigned reading each week. Lesson plans are compiled in a weekly format, so the parent can choose which activities to use each day. These lessons offer opportunities to READ, DISCUSS, LEARN, EXPLORE, and MAKE bringing the books to life. The Book Club Guide also includes materials lists, recipes, worksheets, and reference links to enhance your study.
Book Report Booklet
Each month, your children will complete a book report using that month's Book Report Template. They'll illustrate their own covers, journal about their favorite characters, and write summaries of what they learned.
Illustrated Dictionary
As your children come across unfamiliar words in the story, they will create an entry in the Illustrated Dictionary. They will write the unfamiliar word, look it up in a dictionary, write the definition, and write it in a complete sentence. As the weeks go by, they will compile their own Illustrated Dictionary which can be saved and bound.
Book Club Meet-up Guide
If you are gathering with an in-person group, the Book Club Meet-up Guide provides ideas for food and activities specific to each month's book pick.
Exclusive Access to the Treehouse Book Club Community
Treehouse Book Club Members will get access bonus content in their account dashboard and connect with other members of the Treehouse Book Club community in our exclusive Community Group. This group will be used to share ideas and inspiration and find local members to plan meet-ups.

FAQs
What if I don't have an in-person community?
The Treehouse Book Club online community can be your community! Connect with other families reading the book online or find local meet-ups in your area. You can also call your family a "Book Club" and celebrate the finishing of the book each month together by using the activity guide. If you're not interested in the club aspect, simply use the lesson plans as a full literature curriculum.
Can the Book Club Guides be purchased without a membership?
Yes! Each month after Book Club ends, the Book Club Guides will be sold individually in our shop.
Can I change or cancel my subscription?
Yes! Book Club Members can cancel their membership at any time. Visit your Treehouse Customer Account Portal and click 'Manage Memberships' or email support@treehouseschoolhouse.com.
Can this count as a literature curriculum?
Yes! The content in each month's Book Club Guide includes reading, writing, and narration. There are opportunities for copywork, author study, exploring writing styles, and completing individual creative writing resulting in a robust, year-long literature curriculum.
What ages is Treehouse Book Club Designed for?
Treehouse Book Club is designed for ages 6-12. The books can be read aloud by a parent or independently read by older students. Like all Treehouse Schoolhouse resources, it is designed for family-style learning, so there are suggestions for including younger children.
Does each member of a book club need a membership or only the host?
Each book club family should have an active Treehouse Book Club Membership. Families can access the Book Club Guides to read and study throughout the month and then use the Book Club Meet-up Guide to gather as a group.

My four children were so engaged! They are ages 4-11 so it was a great to have an open and go devotional that everyone loved.
Great curriculum. My only wish would be for some more simple copy work for younger kids who are just learning their letters.
We just finished our first week of the Spring Collection and the results have been amazing. In 2023-2024, we had sort of just free styled it for my oldest daughter's kindergarten year using whatever book was available at Costco plus an overarching theme which was successful-ish. By the time January 2025 rolled around we had four children - ages 6, 4, 2, and a newborn. We were seriously over our heads and both my husband and I and our two oldest were burnt out and the 2 y/o was at the helm of a (frustrating but adorable) revolt. We were desperate. This program has been a lifesaver, our daughters love it, they are totally excited for school, we're excited because we have some direction and resources, and many of the behavior issues we were dealing with have resolved themselves instantaneously simply by having the daily rhythm - how brilliant a schedule that is flexible and forgiving yet structured enough to provide security and predictability. My oldest is telling everyone about her new cards that are hanging up to let us know what we're doing for the day. And Treehouse's idea for a chore loop is so brilliant, I can't tell you how much guilt you've removed from this tired mom's conscience. I can finally clean my house yet not feel bad if something isn't done that day because now I can just get to it when it is next on the loop.
As for the Four Seasons Collection - it's beautiful, we love the illustrations they are so pleasant, calming, and peaceful to look at. I love that it is quite flexible. I can pick and choose what order we do the weeks to fit our weather (Canada), family circumstances, and the resources available at the time. I'm able to include my toddler which has dulled the chaos, or at least paused it for a period each day, and my oldest two are getting adequate learning in. But best of all it is teaching me how to teach. I have no experience with young elementary students and this collection has really allowed me to teach at their level and removed a lot of frustration from both sides. The only side effect is my 4 y/o who loves all things pink, ballet, and will only wear dresses (because "they are her joy") also loves villains in every story. So this week she spent a considerable amount of time waving her arms around declaring loudly "I'm a weedy character" (thank you Ms. Maple's Seeds). We are so happy and love this collection and your advice and can't wait to use it for years to come.
I am thrilled with our purchase of an expectant Easter! It has given us a fun, truth filled curriculum to connect with and have fun. It’s engaging for my 5yo, 7yo and 9yo. I highly recommend!
